Europe WhatsApp, Signal & Co: Germanys user rate significantly lower than EU average

Data from the first quarter in 2023 shows that 66% of 16- to 74-year-olds in Germany used messenger services such as WhatsApp, Signal and Co. The rate was significantly lower than the EU average (75%). The highest rates were recorded in The Netherlands (97%), Spain (93%) and Denmark (92%).

In Germany, 49% of 16-74 year-olds were active in social networks. This figure was below the EU average of 59%. Social networks were used particularly often in Denmark (91%), Cyprus (83%) and Hungary (81%).
