WIESBADEN – In 2017, roughly 440,000 pupils in Germany attained the qualification to enter a university or university of applied sciences. Based on provisional results, the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) also reports that this is 3.0% fewer persons qualified to enter higher education than in the previous year (-14,000). Nevertheless, the number of persons qualified to enter higher education is currently by 1.3% higher than 10 years ago (2007: 434,000).
