WIESBADEN – In 2017, 782,000 people received training assistance under the Federal Training Assistance Act (BAföG) in Germany. The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) also reports that this was a decrease of roughly 41,000 (–5.0%) on 2016. The recipients included approximately 225,000 pupils and 557,000 students in 2017. The number of pupils who received training assistance fell by 5.8%, while that of students was down by 4.6% on the previous year.
