WIESBADEN – In the whole of Germany, 21,800 professional qualifications acquired in a foreign country were recognised in 2017 as fully or partially equivalent to the relevant qualifications obtained in Germany. The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) also reports that the number of recognitions was up by almost 14% from 2016 (19,200). In 2017, a notification of full equivalence was issued for 13,600 applications, a notification of partial equivalence for 8,200 applications. This includes especially notifications involving the obligation to take a compensatory measure and notifications of partial equivalence. 930 applications were withdrawn and 470 refused.
