WIESBADEN – The winegrowers in Germany expect an above-average yield this year. This is mainly due to the good weather conditions in spring and the summer of 2018. Based on first estimates of August 2018, the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) also reports that a quantity of 9.75 million hectolitres of wine is expected in 2018. Following the 2017 vintage with a small quantity of 7.51 million hectolitres, this is an increase of 30%. Compared with the average for the period from 2012 to 2017, the harvested quantity is expected to be higher by 1.06 million hectolitres.
