- Number of persons employed in the entire branch at record high in 2017
- More travel agencies and tour operators
WIESBADEN – From 2008 to 2017, travel agencies and tour operators in Germany increased their total turnover by 54%, from 21.4 to 32.9 billion euros. According to the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis), the number of persons employed in the branch rose by 30% to a total of 92,700 over the same period. The number of businesses went up, too. It increased by 28%, from 8,913 to 11,443. The number of travel agency businesses amounted to roughly 8,800, which was the highest figure since 2008 (+27%). Over the same period, the number of tour operators increased from just under 2,000 to approximately 2,650 (+34%).
