WIESBADEN – The number of people who died in traffic accidents in Germany is expected to reach a new all-time low in 2019. According to estimates of the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) based on data available for the period January to September 2019, the number of traffic accident fatalities is expected to decrease to approximately 3,090. This would be the lowest level since the statistics was first compiled more than 60 years ago. The lowest number of traffic accident fatalities recorded so far was 3,180 in 2017.
