• E-retail growing again in 2019: 8.8% more turnover from January to September than in the same period a year earlier
• Gross value added of postal and courier activities increased by 28% since 2010, reaching 17 billion euros in 2017

WIESBADEN – The branch of postal and courier activities is booming - not only in the Christmas season. However, not everyone benefits from the growth. The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) reports that full-time employees in this branch earned an average gross 2,826 euros per month in 2018, which is just over 1,000 euros less than the average of persons employed in the industry and service sectors (3,880 euros). Compared with 2010, gross monthly earnings of all persons employed (full-time, part-time and marginally employed persons) in this branch have increased by 14.5%. However, this is less than the increase in earnings in the total of the industry and service sectors (+22.4%).
