WIESBADEN – 59% of all German enterprises with a fixed broadband connection and a minimum of 10 persons employed had fast internet access in 2019. This refers to fixed broadband connections with a contractually agreed data transfer speed of at least 30 megabits per second (Mbps). The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) also reports that the proportion of enterprises with fast internet access in Germany rose by 8 percentage points (2018: 51%). The EU average proportion, which was 54% in 2019, rose by 6 percentage points (2018: 48%). This rise was slightly less significant compared with the increase recorded in Germany. As in the previous years, Germany retained its mid-table position in Europe.
