WIESBADEN – Women in Germany earned 20% less than men in 2019. The earnings difference between men and women, the unadjusted gender pay gap, was 1 percentage point lower than in the previous years. To mark the Equal Pay Day on 17 March 2020, and on the basis of updated results of the structure of earnings survey, the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) reports that women earned an average 17.72 euros per hour in gross terms, that is 4.44 euros less than men (22.16 euros). In 2018 the difference was 4.51 euros.
