WIESBADEN – Compared with a year earlier, the number of children under three years who were cared for in day care centres increased by roughly 10,700 to stand at a total of 829,200 on 1 March 2020. This means that the number of children under three years in day care was up 1.3% on 1 March 2019. The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) also reports that, in Germany as a whole, the percentage of children in day care was 35.0% on the reference day (2019: 34.3%).
