Press release No. 418 of 22 October 2020

WIESBADEN – Against the background of increasing Covid-19 infections in Germany, demand for selected sanitary products and food has risen, in part considerably. A special evaluation of experimental data of the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) shows that the sales figures of toilet tissue in Week 42 (12 to 17 October 2020) were almost twice as high (+89.9%) as the average of the pre-crisis months from August 2019 to January 2020. The sales of disinfectants in Week 42 were by just under three quarters (+72.5%) higher than the pre-crisis average, those of soap by just under two thirds (+62.3%).
