WIESBADEN – In 2019, the children and youth welfare institutions in Germany granted educational assistance for young people under 27 in 1.017 million cases. The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) reports that this was an increase of 13,500 cases (+1.3%) on 2018. Educational assistance has not only exceeded one million cases for the second year in a row but also reached a new record high. The number of cases in which educational assistance was received increased steadily by 182,000 (+22%) between 2009 and 2019.
