WIESBADEN – Just under 260,000 people were employed in local units of energy and water supply in Germany at the end of 2020. This was an increase of 2.4% compared with the preceding year. The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) also reports that most people were employed in electricity supply (just over 78%), while 11% worked in water supply. These results are based on data provided by local units in the energy and water supply sector with 20 or more persons employed.
