Press Statistical Advisory Committee re-elects Thomas Bauer as chair

WIESBADEN – The Statistical Advisory Committee, advisory body of the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis), elected Prof. Dr. Thomas K. Bauer, Vice-President of the RWI – Leibniz Institute for Economic Research in Essen, as its chairman for the third time. Thomas Herkner from the German Association of Energy and Water Industries (BDEW) was elected vice-chair again. The Statistical Advisory Committee is tasked to advise the Federal Statistical Office on statistical matters and represent the interests of the users of federal statistics.

The Statistical Advisory Committee
The Statistical Advisory Committee is the advisory body of the Federal Statistical Office established in accordance with Section 4 of the Federal Statistics Act. The users of federal statistics are represented by committee members from trade and industry, employers’ associations, trade unions, agriculture, environmental and welfare associations, scientific research institutions, the German Statistical Society, higher education institutions, the German Data Forum, the Standing Conference of Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs of the Länder, central municipal organisations, federal ministries and federal authorities. The network of official statistics agencies is represented on the committee by the statistical offices of the Länder.
