WIESBADEN – The proportion of liquid farm manure which is applied in agriculture using emission reducing technology has grown significantly in the last ten years. Based on the final results of the 2020 Census of Agriculture, the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) reports that a total of 188 million cubic metres of liquid farm manure were spread in Germany in the period from March 2019 to February 2020. Just under two thirds (65%) of the total volume were applied using emission reducing technology. Ten years earlier, the total volume was nearly equal (190 million cubic metres), while the lower-emissions proportion stood at 31%.
