WIESBADEN – On average, professors at German universities raised third party funds of 287,000 euros each in 2019. This was an increase of 1.9%, or 5,200 euros, compared with a year earlier. The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) also reports that RWTH Aachen University had 985,000 euros of third party funds per professor at its disposal and was number 1 again, followed by the Technical University of Munich with 718,500 euros and the University of Stuttgart with 665,000 euros. To allow comparisons between universities with and without medical institutions, the medical institutions/health science departments of universities are not included here, one of the reasons being their very high third party funds.
