WIESBADEN – The measures taken to contain the Covid-19 pandemic have hit the restaurant industry particularly hard – with consequences for the jobs in that branch. The number of persons employed in the period from January to October 2021 was by 11.6% lower than in the same period a year earlier; a decrease of 23.4% was observed when compared with the same period of the pre-Covid year of 2019. The loss of jobs was particularly evident during the lockdown months at the beginning of last year. An all-time low was reached in February 2021.
