WIESBADEN - In January 2022, the calendar and seasonally adjusted turnover in accommodation and food services increased by both a real (price-adjusted) and nominal (not price adjusted) 9.7% on December 2021. Compared with the lockdown month of January 2021, real turnover in accommodation and food service activities more than doubled (+107.0%). Based on provisional results, the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) also reports, however, that the turnover in January 2022, in real terms, was 35.0% below the level of February 2020, the month before the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic in Germany.
