Turnover in accommodation and food services, August 2022 (provisional results, calendar and seasonally adjusted)

WIESBADEN – In August 2022, the calendar and seasonally adjusted turnover in accommodation and food services decreased by a real (price adjusted) 0.6% and a nominal (not price adjusted) 0.2%. Based on provisional results, the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) also reports that turnover was a real 16.9% and a nominal 26.2% higher than in August 2021. Accommodation and food services are increasingly hit by the high food and energy price increases, which are reflected by the large difference between real and nominal results. This is also made clear by a comparison with the pre-crisis level of August 2019. Turnover in accommodation and food services was a real 5.4% lower but a nominal 9.2% higher in August 2022 than in August 2019.
