Retail turnover, October 2022 (provisional, calendar and seasonally adjusted)

WIESBADEN - According to provisional results of the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis), the real (price-adjusted) turnover of retail enterprises in Germany was down 2.8% and their nominal (not price-adjusted) turnover was down 1.7% in October 2022 from September 2022, on a calendar and seasonally adjusted basis. Compared with October 2021, retail trade recorded a 5.0% decrease in turnover in real terms and a nominal increase of 6.2%. The difference between the results in real and nominal terms reflects Inflation rate at +10.4% in October 2022 in retail trade. Compared with the all-year high of March 2022, retail turnover declined by 6.2% in October 2022 but was 1.8% higher than in the pre-pandemic month of October 2019.
