Press release No. 505 of 1 December 2022
WIESBADEN – Looking at enterprises in Germany which offer training courses for their staff, the pandemic year of 2020 was the first year in which more than half (52%) of the persons employed participated in internal continuing education. The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) reports that this was the highest participation rate ever recorded by the Continuing Vocational Training Survey, which is held every five years. The participation rate was 8 percentage points higher than in 2015 and 16 percentage points higher than in 1999, the first survey year. In 2020, the persons employed did not only participate more often but also spent more time on continuing education. On average, they attended 28 hours of such training courses. In 2015, the average stood at 22 hours.
