WIESBADEN – The food and beverage services sector lost many of their staff in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic. The number of employees increased in 2022 but was still markedly lower than in the pre-Covid year of 2019. Last year, 12.5% more people were employed in the food and beverage services sector than in 2021, when many Covid-19 restrictions applied. However, their number was still a good tenth (11.8%) lower than in 2019, according to the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis).
