- Higher energy and raw material prices affect especially the prices of bottle glass and glass jars
- Production of glass products slightly down in January 2023 year on year
WIESBADEN – The prices of glass products rose markedly in 2022 for glass bottles, window glass and glass jars. The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) reports that the producer prices of glass and glass products were up 26.9% in January 2023 year on year. The price increase was particularly large for glass bottles. Prices of bottles of non-coloured glass rose 40.2% in January 2023 from January 2022, prices of bottles of coloured glass were up 37.0% year on year. In the same period, considerable price increases were also recorded for glass jars (+35.2%), insulating units of glass (+33.8%) and safety glass (+23.3%).
