Press release No. 181 of 11 May 2023
WIESBADEN – 45% of the 251,200 bachelor’s graduates from German higher education institutions who earned their degree in the 2020 examination year (2019/2020 winter semester and 2020 summer semester) had started a master’s programme in Germany by the 2021/2022 winter semester. As reported by the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis), the transition rate from a bachelor's to a master’s degree course in Germany therefore remained unchanged from the 2019 examination year. The rate of transition from a bachelor's to a master’s degree course refers to people who start a master’s programme at a German higher education institution within 1.5 years after obtaining their bachelor’s degree.
