- Imports fell 4.3% in the same period
- Export surplus of 98.7 billion euros in the first half of 2023
- Chemical product imports and exports decreased in value and volume terms
WIESBADEN – Total German exports rose by 3.3% to 797.8 billion euros in the first half of 2023 compared with the same period a year earlier. Goods to the total value of 699.1 billion euros were imported to Germany in the first six months of 2023. This was a decrease of 4.3% compared with the first half of 2022.
Germany’s foreign trade balance (exports minus imports) amounted to +98.7 billion euros in the first half of 2023, and was therefore more than double that in the first half of 2022 (+41.8 billion euros).
