WIESBADEN – In April 2017, there were just under 1.4 million jobs in Germany for which workers were paid the statutory gross minimum wage of 8.84 euros per hour worked. This was a decrease of roughly 0.4 million from the preceding year, when the minimum wage stood at 8.50 euros. The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) also reports that there were 0.8 million jobs in April 2017 for which less than the hourly wage rate of 8.84 euros was paid although, in principle, they were subject to the Minimum Wage Act.
