Press release No. 285 of 2 August 2018
WIESBADEN – 27% of the lone mothers with at least one minor child were not in employment in 2017. However, more than half (55%) of these lone mothers not in employment were interested in taking up a job. Most often, family or personal reasons were given as reasons why they did not do so. At a press conference on lone parents in Germany, the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) also reports that mothers not in employment who lived in a partnership were much less often interested in taking up a job (29%).
Detailed documents relating to the press conference are available here (only in german).
