Press 2018 turnover in the energy, water and waste management industry up 13.2% on a year earlier

Increases also recorded for investments (+17.5%) and number of persons employed (+3.8%)

WIESBADEN – The turnover of enterprises with 20 or more persons employed in the energy, water and waste management industry amounted to 615.3 billion euros in 2018. Based on provisional results, the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) also reports that this was a 13.2% increase on 2017. Turnover increased for the second year in a row (2017: +6.6%). Investments in tangible fixed assets (for instance, machinery, land with buildings, tools) in 2018 amounted to 18.4 billion euros, which was a 17.5% increase on 2017. In the same period, the number of persons employed was up 3.8% to roughly 469,000.
