WIESBADEN – The municipalities in Germany received trade tax revenue amounting to roughly 61.1 billion euros in 2021. The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) reports that this is an increase of approximately 15.8 billion euros, or 34.9%, on the previous year. With a 10.4% increase on 2019, trade tax revenue even clearly exceeded the level attained before the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic and was at the highest level since the time series started in 1991.
