29 August 2022 Trade tax revenue at record high in 2021

The municipalities in Germany received trade tax revenue amounting to roughly 61.1 billion euros in 2021. The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) reports that this is an increase of approximately 15.8 billion euros, or 34.9%, on the previous year. With a 10.4% increase on 2019, trade tax revenue even clearly exceeded the level attained before the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic and was at the highest level since the time series started in 1991.

Tax revenues in cash terms amounted to a total of 916 billion euros in 2023

22/04/2024 – The volume of taxes collected by the Federation, Länder and municipalities (territorial authorities) in Germany amounted to a total of 915.9 billion euros before tax redistribution in 2023. This was an increase of 20.2 billion euros (+2.3%) from the previous year.

21/08/2023 – As reported by the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis), the total real property tax and trade tax amounted to EUR 70.2 billion in 2022, which was a 14.9% increase from the preceding year.
