22 March 2023 5.5 kilograms per capita: 462,500 tonnes of old clothes and second-hand textiles were exported from Germany in 2022

Germany exported approximately 462,500 tonnes of old clothes and second-hand textiles in 2022. The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) reports that this was a decrease of 10.7% compared with the previous year (518,100 tonnes). In relation to the total population in Germany, this represented 5.5 kilograms of second-hand textiles which were exported per capita in 2022.
