Import prices in 2011: +8.0% on 2010

Press release No. 029 / 2012-01-27  The index of import prices rose by 8.0% on an annual average in 2011 compared with 2010. This was the highest price increase since 2000 (+10.2% compared with 1999), as reported by the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis). In December 2011, it rose by 3.9% compared with the corresponding month of the preceding year. In November and in October 2011 the annual rates of change were +6.0% and +6.8%, respectively.


Agreed earnings up 2.1% from October 2010 to October 2011

Press release No. 030 / 2012-01-27  Agreed monthly earnings of employees in Germany rose an average 2.1% from October 2010 to October 2011. As the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) further reports, the rate of increase of average agreed earnings had grown persistently against one month earlier since January 2011 (January 2011: 0.9%, April 2011: 1.5%, July 2011: 1.8 %).



Higher number of children and youth welfare institutions

Press release No. 031 / 2012-01-27  The total number of children and youth welfare institutions in Germany (excluding facilities providing day care for children) rose by some 5% and amounted to 29,200 at the end of 2010 against 2006 when the last survey had been conducted. As reported by the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis), the number of institutions of public bodies was down by 1.8%.
